Lumen Radio new FW 1.1.1.5#150

Hi, there is a new firmware for the Edge wireless cards, v 1.1.1.5. Can we update to this version or are there any compatibility issues?

this is the first time we hear there was a new version released.

Do you have changelogs?

Due to several workarounds with the older firmware, EDGE is locked to 1.1.0.1 and 1.1.1.0. as these were quite similar. We have communicated this with you last year.

As such, we do currently not officially support newer versions and these will not work without us doing testing and verification first.

We also noticed this update only today, you can find the changelog note following. The problem is that we can not select the firmware to install and we still have cards with 1.0.7.2 so we have to update them and the only update available is this one.

NOTE: If you’re updating from prior to 1.1.0.0 you will have to reboot your phone to clear the cache once after installing this update.

Hmm, I see and understand.

I believe there are other ways to update the PCB (at least lumenradio mentiones something like that at some point to us in the past).

Maybe you can ask them to upload 1.1.1.0 to the beta folder in the app so you can update to it?

I’ll check with Thomas on monday how we will proceed as at the moment the embedded and firmware team, which would most likely be responsible and needed for this is pretty busy and I can’t judge their short term availability.
After that I’ll let you know.

The app does not work like that. If you enable the beta folder you will update the module to the latest beta FW. If you disable beta folder you will update to the latest Stable. The fact that the Edge software is blocked at versions 1.1.0.1 and 1.1.1.1 is not something that honestly seems acceptable to us. We understand that it is not compatible with previous versions, but I see the need to make it compatible with later versions. This is for two main reasons. All the cards we have with 1.0.7.2 will not be able to be installed on Edge because the update would install 1.1.1.5 which however is blocked on the software. Secondly, in case of problems using the two firmwares 1.1.0.1 and 1.1.1.1 it would still not be possible to update to 1.1.1.5 or later because it is not compatible. At the moment we will be blocked with the distribution of the product, please let us know as soon as possible how to solve this problem.
Not to mention that we might have cards arriving with 1.1.1.5 already.

Lumenradio in the past has put old firmware for us into the beta folder.

We cannot make it compatible with later versions - so far, every single firmware version from Lumenradio needed adjustments in the firmware to work; and as such we can not guess what Lumenradio may change in the future. So enabling future versions would potentially break things for the user without any way to get back to a working version. This is a problem on Lumenradios side of how they handle updates.

We have communicated with you last year that 1.1.1.0 will be the required firmware version and that this will be the supported firmware version moving forward.
